The economic stamp of a region

Every year the cumulated production of the 12 Beaujolais appellations represents an average of 1 000 000 hectolitres, that is to say over 130 million bottles! Nearly a third is Beaujolais Nouveau.

The other two thirds include Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages and the 10 Crus. The brokers négociants sell the major part of production (67%), the remainder is direct sales from the estates or wine co-operatives. Much enjoyed outside France, Beaujolais enjoys fame equal to that of the greatest vineyards in the world despite its moderate size. Every year, nearly 54 million bottles are exported to over 110 countries.
