Les Coupes des Meilleurs Bistrots (the best bistrot cups)

History
In Lyon, in the 1950s, Henri Clos-Jouve and Marcel Grancher created "la coupe des Meilleurs Pots". The selection criteria were the quality of the Beaujolais served and the bistrot's atmosphere.
They took this wonderful idea back to the French capital and so the "coupe des Meilleurs Pots" has been truly Parisian for more than 40 years now.
Since 1986 the 'Tradition du Vin' association has also been awarding a prize to the best wine bistrot of the year walled "la Bouteille d'Or" (the golden bottle). At present 'La coupe des Meilleurs Pots' brings together around 20 establishments while the 'Tradition du Vin' network has around 10 members. The new winners are officially designated every March.

Back to the well-spring... the 3rd river!
In the spring of 1995 it was decided to recreate a new network of bistros in Lyon that would adhere to this spirit of friendship and quality Beaujolais.

Our network that spreads through Europe... and across the Atlantic.
The fellowship of Parisian and Lyon bistros has filled out with members in the United States.(New-York).

Participation Criteria

A jury is generally made up of 5 to 7 members from the gastronomic profession and the press.
Selection criteria are based on the bistrot's atmosphere, the presence of a 'patron' (landlord), and the good price / quality ratio for the food and wines served. It is crucial that each establishment have at least one Beaujolais wine on its bill of fare permanently and that there are at least two promotional operations that bring Beaujolais wines to the forefront every year. 'The Beaujolais Champions' make up an international network.
The objective of this body of bistrots is to build links between different countries and cultures using our Beaujolais image as a vector for cross border friendship. Through this network, when the different cups are awarded in New York or Milan, the winners are invited by their opposite numbers in the different countries in turn.
All of these bistrots in France and throughout the world live and work to the rhythm of the major Beaujolais events (Beaujolais Nouveau, the Crus after they have done their Easter duty and now chill out with Beaujolais) acting as an excellent intermediary as well as being a on the spot test for our sales strategy.
There is a pocket guidebook showing all the winners of the Beaujolais bistro networks in the world. This could be called the "bible" for gourmet travellers who love our wines.
