Passionate about the terroir
In total, there are 90 winegrowers who toil to produce the elegant Côte de Brouilly wines with their purple robe and intense flavors. In such a wonderful natural environment, why wouldn’t you do all you can to get the best out of the vines?
The winegrowers here work in sometimes heroic conditions on steep slopes. They make every effort to ensure that the flavor of the terroir comes out in the bottles in order to produce outstanding crus whose character is gradually revealed with the passing years.
Wines at their peak, in all senses of the term!
A wine that rises to the occasion
The Côte de Brouilly appellation is grown on the slopes of Mont Brouilly in the municipalities of Cercié, Quincié-en-Beaujolais, Odenas and Saint-Lager. It benefits from the mild, sunny climate of the Beaujolais region.
Shrouded in mystery, the Côte de Brouilly wines have their very own heavenly protection….The Notre-Dame aux Raisins chapel that has kept a benevolent eye on harvests since 1854.
This lovely chapel has pride of place here as it was where winegrowers used to come to beseech the Virgin Mary to envelop the vines in her cloak and protect the harvest from harmful mushrooms.
But the Côte de Brouilly vines have more than just a breath-taking landscape and a guardian angel, the terroir where they are grown is quite simply divine……
A terroir that produces an intense wine
The Gamay plants draw their strength from a rich terroir of volcanic rocks and the famous “Brouilly blue stone.” This fanciful name given to the rocks scattered around this part of the Beaujolais region comes from the shimmering blue-ish colors of the stone as it degrades.
In the mouth, you can appreciate the structure, generosity and elegance of the wine. It has a powerful nose with red fruits and fresh grapes combined with floral, spicy and mineral notes.
This aromatic complexity means that collectors and foodies can buy Côte de Brouilly to store in some secret spot in a cellar and bring out between 3 and 5 years later for a special occasion.
This outstanding Beaujolais cru will surprise your guests and is great for a special occasion like a birthday, christening, wedding or to celebrate exam success.
Côte de Brouilly has the ideal environment and the best possible conditions for growing grapes and harvesting intense fruits. With its crimson robe, this appellation is the star of Beaujolais wines and wine lovers will adore the bouquet which is only improved by a volcanic terroir. This region is worth visiting for its green hillsides and idyllic setting as much as for its wineries that produce excellent crus.
